King Crimson adalah salah satu group Progressive Rock yang banyak di puja sekaligus diumpat.
nama King Crimson diambil dari salah satu lyric lagu yang dibuat oleh Peter Sinfield
dan sekaligus judul awal album mereka.. The Court Of Crimson King..
King Crimson juga berarti Beelzebub atau pemimpin setan.
King Crimson didirikan oleh:
Michael Giles (Drums, Vocals), Peter Giles (Bass, Vocals), Robert Fripp (Guitar),
yang telah bermain bersama dalam Trio Giles, Giles & Fripp.
Kemudian Ian McDonald (Mellotron, Vocals) & Peter Sinfield (Synth & Penulis lagu) bergabung.
Musik Prog-Rock yg dimainkan kadang bercampur dengan jazz maupun classic.
